It is very important to seal a criminal record or records (if allowable by law).  There are many reasons it is important to seal a criminal record(s) including employment, housing, financial aid, insurance coverage, professional licenses, loan procurement and many other important things in a person’s life can be adversely affected by a failure to seal a criminal record. For example, most landlords for apartments, houses or condominiums require renters to complete an application for a background check. The presence of a conviction or arrest record alone could be used as a reason to reject your application for the rental property.  Similarly, an application for employment showing a prior charge or conviction can often be the difference in getting a job.
